On 9 June 2026, the Saathi Support team visited Galgotias University for an interactive session with undergraduate Psychology students. The event focused on exploring career pathways in mental health and introducing students to future opportunities for engagement with the Saathi Support programme.
The session began with Building a Career in the Field of Psychology, led by Aakriti Chaudhary, Research Associate at O.P. Jindal Global University and a member of the Saathi Support team. Drawing on her experience across research and practice settings, Aakriti shared insights into the diverse opportunities available within Psychology. Students participated in discussions on educational pathways, emerging career options, the realities of working in the field, and the skills needed to build a meaningful career in mental health.
The team also introduced students to the Saathi Support programme and future opportunities for involvement in strengthening mental health support on college campuses. Noyonika Gupta, Research Coordinator at Sangath, and Kunwar Inayat, Project Manager at Youth for Mental Health, shared information about the programme’s peer-support model and the various ways students can contribute to creating supportive campus communities.
The visit was organised under the guidance of Dr. Shikha Srivastava, Professor of Applied Psychology at the School of Liberal Education, Galgotias University. Dr. Srivastava emphasised the importance of initiatives that connect academic learning with real-world practice through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for student engagement.
The interaction highlighted students’ enthusiasm for learning about careers in Psychology and their interest in contributing to mental health initiatives.
