Training a New Cohort of Metropolis Campus Ambassadors (MCAs)

Reflections from the two-day training of Saathi Support MCAs

Shubhangi Pandey

On 25 and 26 July 2026, METROPOLIS facilitated a two-day hybrid training for 46 new Mental Health Campus Ambassadors (MCAs) from 10 partner campuses, marking the beginning of a new semester of campus engagement and student outreach for the Saathi Support programme.

The training introduced MCAs to the research project, its journey, recruitment processes, programme materials, and their roles and responsibilities. Sessions also covered research ethics, with a focus on maintaining participant confidentiality and following ethical procedures during outreach. Practical sessions included recruitment script practice and hands-on training in recording recruitment data through REDCap.

A new feature of this cohort was the introduction of role-based responsibilities, with MCAs taking on specialised roles as Digital Coordinators, Collaboration Coordinators, and Events Coordinators. This approach is intended to strengthen campus engagement by allowing MCAs to contribute through different areas of outreach while working collaboratively as a team.

The training brought together an enthusiastic new cohort, ready to take their learning back to their campuses and put their new roles into practice. Through their efforts, the MCAs will contribute to increasing awareness about mental health and connecting students with the support available through the Saathi Support programme, helping foster more supportive and informed campus environments.
