In light of the recent student suicides in Delhi and Jaipur, our co-investigator and Director of Youth Mental Health at Sangath, Pattie Gonsalves, has penned a poignant opinion piece reflecting on what these tragedies reveal about the deeper systemic failures in how we think about safety, responsibility and support for young people.

 

She argues that safety isn’t just about locked terraces or CCTV—what young people need most is to be heard, to know there’s someone who cares, and to feel they have access to help that isn’t just reactive crisis-management.
